DANIELLE RUDASH

Marks of Life, Danielle Rudash, Oil on canvas, 40 x 30 in.

This work shines light on the eternal subject of Motherhood. Aiming to unveil the truth behind this rite of passage, my work relays the toll of physical and emotional turmoil that takes place, while preserving the beauty of its process.

Danielle Rudash was born and raised in Morgantown, West Virginia, where the mountains, trees, water, and fresh air have sculpted all that she is and values. Growing up in Appalachia has helped her in discovering her version of what is ""holy"" and ""sacred"". Her relationship with nature is the biggest influence over her work, relating ideas of connection, change and growth to the human experience.

While completing a BFA at West Virginia University she also became a mother. This experience has sent Danielle's work into new directions where she reflects emotions of this rite of passage and connects it to the world that we are mothered by.
