Zena Ruiz, first generation native to Houston, Tx, is an artist who plays in many mediums: printmaking, sculpture, drawing, and community pollination being favorites. They received their BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in 2011 and is an advocate for the arts in community, where they use art making as a catalyst for gathering, reflection, discussion, (more reflection) and transformation. Zena currently works as the Arts in Context Manager at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh and MuseumLab where they utilize their artistic practice in collaboration with local, regional, and international artists to create imaginative and memorable moments that foster curiosity of the world.
